Gordon most capable to be next RP president, Lyceum poll says

Bagumbayan-Volunteers for a New Philippines Party standard-bearer Senator Richard Gordon is the most capable among all the presidential aspirants today, a poll from the Lyceum of the Philippines showed.

Gordon, who pleased the crowd of students from different universities in Manila, foreign diplomats and business leaders during his speech at the Lyceum Presidential Forum on Wednesday, received the highest number of votes during the mock election that was done at the end of the program.

The Bagumbayan presidential bet received 59 votes, followed by Gilbert Teodoro (23), Sen. Benigno Aquino III (20), Bro. Eddie Villanueva (17), Nicanor Perlas (10), Former President Joseph Estrada (9), Sen. Manny Villar (7), and Olongapo Councilor JC Delos Reyes (2).

During the forum, Gordon explained his policy of governance and sent a clear message that everyone must take part in transforming the nation and breaking free from a transactional society.

"When I look at governance I always think in terms of vision, values, volunteerism equals victory. To my mind, leaders ought to know where they are going. They have to uplift the level of values, of dignity, of behavior and performance of their people; uplift not just the standard of living, but also the standard of values; not just making them receive the hand-out, but making sure that all hands are carrying the load of the nation," he stressed.

Gordon said the Philippine Government is faced with many challenges, primarily the cycle of disaster and poverty, the ongoing war in Mindanao, and the corruption not just in the government but in the whole society.

He explained that these problems can be resolved by a government that is focused, fast, friendly, flexible and forward-looking.

The senator presented his governance agenda, which included his top six policies: (1) Responsible budget deficit reduction program by minimizing fraud, waste and abuse, while maximizing revenues and services; (2) Burden-sharing by forging genuine partnership with local government units and the private sector; (3) Investing in people by ensuring quality population through quality education; (4) Disaster proofing the nation to end the cycle of disaster and poverty; (5) Strong political will and leadership by example; and (6) Re-engineering the government through a system of meritocracy.

"This is how Gordon's governance will be. People must be part of the process of change. I will try to explain my vision to the people. Vision is a mental picture of the future which is certainly better than what is today. Vision will require challenges; work ethic, a sense of duty, dignity and determination are required for us to achieve our vision," Gordon said.

Dear Senator Dick Gordon,

I'm your avid fan, and I'm one of the top 3 recruiters of supporters in the Facebook's Gordon-Bayani cause.

My thrust in convincing people is your ability to make our country earn dollars or any other currencies through exports and tourism like what you have already shown in SBMA and in DOT. I'm saddened to find out that you missed to include this in your 6-point agenda.

I believe that this is the primary and the only policy that is needed by our country right now. If you could duplicate what you did in the SBMA & DOT a hundred times during your first year of office, and double it every year with double-digit GNP growth for the whole 6-yr of your presidential term, there is a chance that our country will be able to regain its proper place in global socio-economic rankings, making our country wealthy and great again, and your 6-point agenda will become easier to implement.

Just my humble suggestion senator.

Sincerely Yours,

I quite agree. But give the man a break. With all the plans in his mind, he's bound to miss mentioning some of them.

But yes, the Philippines will have a greater chance if he can do what he did in Olongapo/Subic to the whole country.

I believe that only Mr Gordon here can do this.

He has my vote!

My friend, your vote and my vote alone are not enough to bring Sen. Dick Gordon to Malacanang with only 1% survey result. We need millions more of votes for him. This is why I'm trying to reach him to change his campaign cry and make it EXPORT or DIE.

We, the OFW's, will all vote for him, together with our extended family members, if Sen. Dick Gordon will spell it out in simple and understandable terms that he is the only candidate that can make us come home for the better and make our kids and grandchildren have the choice of staying home to earn decent living by creating more better-paying jobs in export-oriented businesses like they do in Hongkong, Singapore, Taiwan, South Korea, and China. These countries invited foreign companies to set up their export-oriented factories in their land to take advantage of the foreign direct investment capital and technical knowledge merged with the domestic cheaper wage and cheaper inputs of production.

South Korea needed to send thousands of scholars to learn new knowledge in technologies to spearhead its development. Our country has the advantage of having armies of globally trained skilled workers which Sen. Gordon can easily encourage to come home and help in rebuilding our nation.

Agri-business, industrialization, and eco-tourism will solve all the woes of our country. Do an SBMA and Wow Philippines! a thousand times and our country's standard of living will improve rapidly and the government revenues will increase exponentially that would make it afford to provide the best services in the fields of education, public works, justice, etc.

EXPORT or DIE! Only Sen. Dick Gordon has done it before in SBMA and in Wow Philippines!, and among the presidential candidates, he is the only who can deliver a thousand more of those...

Regards,
QEight Pinoy

I think that Sen. Gordon is the best choice for all the Filipino voters this coming elections. Its just pitiful how so few realize this (based on surveys). He has a lot of traits that people should look up to as a leader: he has vision, passion, knowledge, and sincerity. He puts the burden of uplifting the country in every citizens' hands, which I think is very noble and necessary. There is a whole lot of things to applaud him for but for all I know, only his' supporters will be able to read this. (Apologies for my pessimism) But whatever happens, Richard Gordon has my vote.

I think that Sin Gordon (the big dick), is the best choice for all the innocent voters. It is pitiful how so many realize this (based on truth). He lacked the character traits of Good Morals and Right Conduct. Asus! He has the vision (for himself), passion (mental delusion), knowledge (of corruption) and sincerity (to his wife?)...maybe he is good, but I am not sure!

And who do you suggest we vote? Anyone you know running for the presidency who has a clear platform for the filipino people?

Pardon my "innocence" in your eyes for wanting to vote for Sen. Gordon, ma'am/sir, but I am an educated voter. I read and research about all the candidates and so far, he's the only one who knows what he must do with the power to govern the land, our land, given the chance.

You said he has a vision for himself, what about the other candidates? Who wants a job that pays little unless, of course, they "can see" beyond the salary of a president?

I'm not saying Sen. Gordon is "the" perfect candidate or an exemplary human being. He has flaws, no doubt, but I'd say so far, he has the clearest vision of what the Philippines should become once he takes oath.

And I am positive that views like yours are a challenge to the good senator to prove himself worthy to be president.
