Red Cross awards a Check to Maguindanao Massacre victim's family
Red Cross Awards a Check to the Wife of the Late Newsman Alejandro Reblando. Philippine Red Cross Chairman Richard J. Gordon (3rd from the left) and Secretary General Gwendolyn T. Pang (4rd from the left) hand over a Php 300,000.00 worth of check to Mrs. Myrna Reblando (2nd from left)—widow of the deceased Manila Bulletin reporter, Alejandro Reblando—on June 29, 2010 at PRC National Headquarters Board Room. Also present in the said event are National Press Club President Jerry Yap (left), Ms. Rowena Nicolas (3rd from right) of Gotuaco Del Rosario Insurance Broker, Inc., and Ms. Laarni So (2ND from left) and Ms. Claire Rivera of Prudential Guarantee.
Alejandro Reblando is one of the 57 people brutally slain last November in Ampatuan, Maguindanao. Apparently, he was among the 1,200 members of National Press Club (NPC), which Chairman Gordon himself sponsored to avail of the Philippine Red Cross’ Premiere Platinum Membership with Accident Assistance Benefits last January 12, 2009, through a memorandum of agreement with then NPC President Benny Antiporda; thus, entitling his family to receive the aforementioned monetary assistance.
